RX8 the best 1:8th scale car ever?

Postby Dasmopar » August 18th, 2011, 1:56 am

I vote yes. It has the geometry of the new era modern cars plus the durability of the old Mugen MRX-4. It has lots of support at most all the races and seems to work well even when set up poorly. The RX8 comes in well under the min. weight right out of the box allowing you to put the weight where you want it. Another bonus to the car is you can buy each part separately vs some of the other cars that force you to buy a tree of parts when you only need one little peice from that tree leaving you with a pile of parts from each tree you may never use.

Anyone want to fight about it?

There is a lot more to the car than just the parts to make it run. What motor, servos, radio system are you running? Have you been running the new RX8 for a while, if you just switched to it, what did you run before the RX8 and how did your old car compare?

Any setup tips for the RX8?

I ran a MRX4 last year for a few races and at the winter nats. Then switched to the MRX5 for this season. I had a hard time finishing races with the 5 because the front arms are so fragile. That car is a fast car though! Then we got the RX8 and it is just as fast as the MRX5 if not faster but as durable as the MRX4. You really have to do something wrong to break the RX8. The only issue I'm having with the Xray is the clutch. I'm still trying to figure it out and get it to be as solid as the Mugen 3 shoe clutch.
