Drifting

Postby NitroGod1 » October 17th, 2011, 10:41 pm

Anyone into drifting? I am more into nitro, but I hear that electric drifting is getting popular. Is it tough to control? I 'attempt' to 'drift' with my nitro sedan with foams, but that NEVER works. Just thought it would be cool to try it.

Drifting with foam will never work. you can do one of two things if you want to try it and dont want to spend a lot of money.

1) take the foam off the tires so it is just the rim.
or
2) buy PVC pipe to slide over a rim, or evenr slide over the whole tire.

Drifting has to be an extremely hard tire. foam or rubber (unless extremely hard) will grip to much to drift.

Drifting with nitro is also sometimes dificult because most of the cars have two-speeds in them. You will find it will want to shift in and out of second gear which makes the drift hard to achieve. You can try tightening the two speed up so it will not shift. Just be sure you arent revving the motor crazy in first. That could be bad. :!:

Thanks for the input. Not sure I want to drift with my ntc3, but maybe pick up a cheap electric car for drifting (that's why I posted in Electric). Do I need to look at special gearing, motor, esc setups, or does the regular stuff work just as well?
